Käthe Kruse began making handmade soft dolls in 1911, desiring to give them a natural and child-like appearance. She took great care, using materials like reindeer hair for stuffing, human hair for wigs, meticulously hand painting faces, and using the finest fabrics for clothes. The dolls were a favorite for children, but their natural and innocent presence also charmed adults and a collectible market was born.
The Käthe Kruse company continues to produce these special collector's dolls in Donauwörth Germany using the same materials and process. Experienced doll and clothing designers and handcrafters create several new dolls every year. They are produced in various heights and in some cases limited editions.
We are pleased to be able to offer these beautiful and elegant dolls to collectors in the United States. Please note that all items ship to you from Germany via our fulfillment center so delivery time is extended. Contact us for more information or if you have questions.
